Collection: Green Tea

Green tea is a type of tea made from the fresh leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant that have not undergone an oxidation or fermentation process. Unlike black tea, where the leaves are allowed to fully oxidize, green tea is quickly processed using heat (steam or dry heat) to preserve its natural green color and antioxidant compounds.

Characteristics and Composition:

  • Minimal Processing: The leaves are picked, withered, and heated to prevent the action of oxidative enzymes.

  • Rich in Antioxidants: It stands out for its high content of polyphenols, especially catechins such as epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which are responsible for many of its benefits.
